She walks every day on pavements (as well as running on fields and in woods), so her nails don't get massive but also do need trimming occasionally.
We tackled two paws yesterday and two today. Here is one paw before trimming:

Not pretty or salon grade but it does the job. I don't mind doing it but it sure makes my back ache!
Ruby however is very chilled once she relaxes:
Fortunately, we've never seen a tick on Betty. Her claws grow quickly, although she is walked on both roads and fields. Her nails are really thick and hard so we leave the clipping to the groomers....she wriggles too much for us anyway, although is much more subdued at the groomers, they reckon they have no trouble with her at all.
ReplyDeleteIf you use a flea/tick medication you may not see any. They certainly don’t seem to latch onto short haired dogs so much. Both these blighters were hidden in the thick fur under her ears even though we groom them every day.
