On nearly all bean showings, just one came up. Quite a few first sowings of tomatoes also failed. Sowed second batch and some of the first ones decided to grow. Hopefully will have enough now and some to give away.
Just sown new beans and hope they come through. French marigolds have finally come through but nasturtiums not showing. Ah well, onwards and upwards.
Although it proved tiresome for some reason, with mini mistakes happening, finally got a batch of date slices made.
I don’t know about you but we are losing the plot. Doesn’t bother us much being at home but don’t know what day it is half the time!
How are you starting your seedlings? I have had lots of success with clear plastic lettuce containers with lids. I start in damp potting soil with the lid on, and after they come up remove the lid and put under grow lights for a month or so. I have seeds that are up to 3 years old still germinating.
ReplyDeleteHope the next batch works better.

Thanks for the info Barb. I have never had a problem like this before. Seeds were new last year. Heated covered tray used, compost not what I usually use due to restrictions. It will come right in the end. Lettuce and radish outside doing okay.
DeleteAs soon as I wake up I wonder what day it is, and have to remind myself throughout the day as well. Not sure that it matters though, every day is the same.
ReplyDeleteVery true. We used to walk the same day each week with a friend and went dog training. That helped.
DeleteI've been using the damp tissue method for lots of seeds. I didn't for the runner beans and only 1 germinated. So I've tried it, watching and waiting.
ReplyDeleteUse to use that method but kept forgetting to keep it damp!
DeleteMy blog entries start with whatever day it is and that seems to get it fixed in my head for the way. Without that, I think I'd be in a right old muddle!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nuisance about the seeds. After reading the above, I think I will start my runners off in pots - I don't have that many spares. Thanks.
xx
My beans were in pots, in the propagator, they completely disappeared except the one that grew, very odd.
DeleteHave to admit since leaving factory life a few years back I have trouble reminding myself what day it is! I tend just to ‘time’ my life by the seasons these days.
ReplyDeleteWow, is it a few years, how time flies.
DeleteI came home from Kris's so excited to see what had sprouted. I am still waiting on parsley, peppers, sage, and oregano. Dang.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Ah well, hopefully something will sprout!
DeleteIt's funny I feel like that, not knowing what day it is and yet Alan is still working a 40 hour five day working week from upstairs in his office.
ReplyDeleteA lot of my seeds are not germinating this year, I am starting to get worried about my formerly green fingers.
