This pandemic must be getting to me!
In January I found a near cure for my insomnia, almonds. Eating 12 before bed, with a small glass of milk, sent me of to sleep most nights, for nearly 2 months.
Now, I can’t sleep properly again. In March it was 50/50 for natural sleep with no help required. So far in April, just 4 nights. I have barely any sleep on bad nights and was still awake and typing this at 04:00 hours:(
Reckon I fell asleep around 5am.
Eating 12? Sorry you're not sleeping again. I know the feeling well, my nights are totally disrupted again.
ReplyDelete1 oz is required, 10 or 12 weighs that!
DeleteAh sorry, I missed the 'almonds' bit!
DeleteI'm an early waker anyway but I reckon before five is a bit too much and that's what has been happening lately. Not great, is it?

Will update the time. On these bad nights I don’t get to sleep until then:(
DeleteI'm having problems with sleeping too - been on & off for a year or two. My current pattern is sleeping midnight til 4 then I'm awake listening to the dawn chorus.
ReplyDeleteAlmonds contain magnesium which helps with sleep. Can you get hold of Epsom salts and have a foot bath before bed? Also, Google magnesium containing foods and add them in to your diet. These things have all helped improve my sleep. I average about 6.5 hours a night now, previously 4 to 5.5 hours.
ReplyDeleteThanks for that. I do take a magnesium (correct version) to help before going to bed. Plus one medication I take before bed for something else, is also supposed to make me tired, it doesn't:(
DeleteI find that if I drink lots of water during the day I sleep really well. I tend not to drink it after 6 pm - 7 pm latest, otherwise I'm up in the night.
ReplyDeleteI guess we all have to find what works for us. I think if I drank any extra during the day, I would be up going to the loo several times.
DeleteI'm a dreadful sleeper. I can normally fall asleep quickly but I can't stay asleep. 2-3 hours after I wake then it's difficult to get back off. I find my audio book is good. Its the monotonevoive, I set it to shut off after an hour and it works relatively well.
ReplyDeleteSounds good but I am such a light sleeper that it shutting off would probably wake me up!
DeleteOh, the dreaded not sleeping. I can relate. Not one to seek medication, I've played with different natural things. Some work for a little while, others not at all. Lately, I have found these little chewies that seem to work very well. Natrol Melatonin Gummies. Says to chew 1, um, no. I chew 3 about 30 mins before I want to be asleep. I can fall asleep, and when I do wake up, I can easily go BACK to sleep, even if I have to get up and use the bathroom. They do give me some vivid, but not awful, dreams. I buy them at Walmart - not sure where you'd get them where you live.
ReplyDeleteDon’t think they are available here but we can buy Nytol caramel flavoured syrup. I use these if needed as just one half of one tablet(two a night version) works for me. Any more and I am tired the next day.
